Welcome to the Year 3 page!
The Autumn term has begun and it is a pleasure to welcome our new Lionfish, Lobsters and Barracudas. The children are already excited about our new topic, Ancient Egypt, and we look forward to sharing our learning with you at our Class Assemblies after half term (see below for dates).
We have tried to answer some of the most frequently asked questions below. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch by email via the school office or face to face at the South Entrance when collecting your child.

Encouraging a love of reading is the single most important contribution you can make to your child's educational development at this stage. We ask that you and your child read four times each week and note this in their Reading Record. These will be checked weekly by the class teacher and should be brought to school each day. We love to hear what books you are reading but you can also tell us about comics, websites and anything else that has caught your eye!
Learning Logs will be sent home each Friday with a different task for your child to complete either independently or with help from an adult. The task will be linked to their learning in class and should take no more than 30 minutes. Learning Logs should be returned by Wednesday the following week so they can be reviewed and a new task set.
Mathletics - Each child has a personal log-in and password for this excellent website, filled with tasks that support the Maths they learn in school. Please speak to your class teacher if your child has trouble logging on as regular tasks will be set for homework.
A list of the top 200 high frequency words we use can be found here.
In Year 3, classes have two PE lessons each week, one indoor and one outdoor. We recommend that your child keeps their kit in school, taking it home to wash at the end of each half term Please see the uniform policy on advice for what to include in your child's kit bag.
