Welcome to Year 3
Barnacles - Mr Edwards
Starfish - Miss Bridgman
Seahorses - Miss Kelly
The Sun has got its hat on, hip hip hip hooray!
Summer has finally arrived and the children are enjoying playing together out in the warm weather and fresh air. Please help them to keep Sun safe by ensuring they bring a hat and bottle of water each day.
Our topic this term is Adventures At Sea. We will learning how to do the things we enjoy doing at the seaside safely, by understanding risks and managing them sensibly.
We will be taking a trip to Saltdean beach and also look forward to welcoming a guest speaker from the RNLI.
PE - Children should wear their PE kits to school on Wednesdays and Fridays. The outdoor court is in an exposed location so please ensure children have water bottle and a sun hat to ensure they are comfortable outside.
Reading - Encouraging a love of reading is the single most important contribution you can make to your child's educational development at this stage. We ask that you and your child read four times each week and note this in their Reading Diary which will be checked weekly. We love to hear what books you are reading but you can also tell us about comics, websites and anything else that has caught your eye! Children will be offered a new book to take home each Wednesday. We ask that finished books are returned to school by the following Monday so they can be quarantined in time to be shared again.
Maths - Tasks that consolidate topics covered in class will be set regularly on Mathletics. Each child has a personal log-in and password which which they will bring home. Please speak to your class teacher if your child has trouble logging on as regular tasks will be set for homework.
Spellings - A list of the top 200 high frequency words we use can be found here.
